Eva-Luz Escobar

It was always my dream to work as an artist. I do not have an art education, but in early years in my country (Bolivia) I passed my Baccalaureate and at the same time I was sculpting, dancing, drawing and making art in my own time. I emigrated to Germany in 1979 to study languages and psychology at Munich and Bonn universities. My curiosity for art grew while I was in Europe. Before I knew about art from books, now I was experiencing it in real life.

I was often faced in daily life with the choice between two cultures, which allowed me to mix and grow. I am self-taught and take all possibilities to visit galleries, take courses and work with other artists.

I have lived in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia,) and Europe (Germany, France, England), North America (San Francisco). Wherever I live I try to meld myself with the culture and learn and share myself.

For me to be an artist is to work as an artist and to share my work with others. In all the places where I have lived I have done this. Now in London I have found an opportunity to make art with Southbank Mosaics and show it in St Johns Sculpture Garden, which is the garden around the crypt where we are working. Please come and see our work. We’re based by the Imax cinema, right outside the front of Waterloo station.
